Hello Football

The Lovely Lythan dared us this week @ Daring Cardmakers' with the fab theme of;

Let's hear it for the boys

Its time to see some of those cards for men. What are the things you add to a card to make it more pleasing to the masculine eye? (Yes, I want to shamelessly steal some ideas!)

I made this for Josh - to celebrate the start of the Football Season  and used a Tattered Lace football die, Baby Fox font and a Lawn Fawn heart die.

and... catching up - this is my card for last week - Kathy's terrific texture dare;

thank you balloons

Todays's second card is made loosely with the current inspiration photo at Daring Cardmakers' - (triangle, corrugated and colours), but made mainly with Virginia's brilliant current challenge at Virginia's View - 'Embellishments' in mind;

It simply used Pink Fresh studio paper and a homemade tag style embellishment for the sentiment - the embellishment really is the only thing on the card!

New Beginnings

Nat dared us this week at Daring Cardmakers' with this fantastic dare;

It's my turn to set the dare this week and well, today happens to be the day that one chapter of my daytime career ends and another begins. So, inspired by
"New Beginnings"
and everything they entail I challenged my fellow teamies to create a card on this very theme.

Whether new beginnings in work, love, family, life in general or in celebration of a new adventure, or simply sharing inspirational and uplifting words of wisdom - the choice is yours!

This my card - a Wedding one :)

It uses one of the awesome digi stamps available free from issue 139 of Simply Cards and Papercraft
and I added a sentiment using Baby Fox font.

TFL - and don't forget to check out the brilliant new beginnings cards that the DT have made on the Daring Cardmakers' blog :)

Ruby Rock-it Birthday

This week at Daring Cardmakers, we've been playing once again with fantastic products from Aussie company Ruby Rock-It. There are just oodles of wonderful products for all types of crafters so why not take a peek at their {website} or follow them on their {facebook page}

The dare is to make a birthday card which is ROCK themed, this could be music or lots of bling to represent precious rocks.  We would also like to see the colour RUBY somewhere too.

I used rock salt :) and watercolour to make the background and used lots of lovely Ruby Rock-it bits and bobs to make this;

There is a fabulous prize on offer this week for a lucky crafter joining in with the challenge - all the details and the amazing DT cards can be found on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

and a second card today - clean and simple and quick and easy - with a beach theme for Less is More's current challenge; Life's a Beach.

(an inside photo as the weather today is as far removed from beach weather as possible!)

The background is from an old set of digis, resized to fit a card front and simply printed directly onto the card.  Watermelon is from here and fonts are Lillybelle and MS San Serif.

 It's Christmas!!!!

We all need to make a head start with these cards.  I know I have a few to make to post back to the UK.  Its always difficult to start making them early especially when the weather is so sunny and lovely. Get those Christmas tunes on and start feeling festive!

July's elemental Inspiration

I'm up at Daring Cardmakers' this week with another Elemental Challenge for you all;
I chose the picture as it's light and summery - perfect for the fantastic weather we've been having;

This week as with every first week of a new month we would like you to pick out a minimum of three elements from the picture to design your card with.

 These elements could be anything at all but each can only be one thing, for example the colour can only be one - you can't separate them into individual colours. There are loads to choose from and you can see which ones the Design Team chose to use in their brilliant cards on the Daring Cardmakers' blog :)

Here's my card;

I used the background design, gold leaf, pink flowers, paper clip and watercolour.

Ruby Rock-it

A very special dare on the Daring Cardmakers' blog this week;

We are excited today to introduce the first of two sponsored Ruby Rock-It dares!

Here is a little about Ruby Rock-it :
Ruby Rock-it Designs was created by Fynmark in Australia in 2008. Already successful with other mainstream papercraft brands in the local market Creative Director Joanna wanted to create a new brand that focused on all the things she loved – vintage style papers and richly textured embellishments – and so Ruby Rock-it was born. “It’s an acknowledgement to my grandmothers who were a huge influence in my life growing up – their tea-cup patterns, their love of all things olde-worlde.”
There are just oodles of wonderful products for all types of crafters so why not take a peek at their {website} or follow them on their {facebook page}

So here is this week's dare!

*****
Baby Rock-It!!
The products the DT are using are from the Fundamental range from Ruby Rock-it

The dare is to make a Baby themed card which has a 'rocking' or 'moving' element to it!

*****

We have this wonderful little prize back from RRBF for one lucky person who completes the dare this week (Winner will be drawn randomly just after next week's dare is revealed):

The DT have as usual made amazing cards which you can see on the blog and here's mine;

I used one of the gorgeous little frog brads to make tag that moves to reveal a hidden journalling card;

Yes, it's supposed to be blurry...

Miri's turn to dare at Daring Cardmakers' this week and dared us with an absolutely brilliant dare;

I dare you to use the bokeh technique on your cards!

The Daring Cardmakers' blog has loads of tips and links to tutorials to make a Bokeh card and you can check out the DT's amazing creations here :)

I used watercolours to create the background and then stamped circles using white ink to complete the effect.  Embellishments are a sizzix die cut scribble, Spellbinders die cut vellum pinked circle, American Crafts Sticker, Sizzix Craft Asylum leaf fromAmerican Crafts paper.  I cut the sentiment from glitter cardstock using a L'il Inker die.

I made this one too!

Same technique, with Heidi Swapp die cut sentiment, paper flower, fabric leaves, gold thread, Ikea washi tape and Docraft adhesive dots.
