Monogrammatic

M is for Monogrammatic - this week's little extra and also for Mum :)

Using my tried and tested method of chucking bits at a card and hoping that they will work :) Here is mine;

All bits and bobs are K&Co, Brads are from eBay and Eyelets are from the Papermill Shop. Hand stitching (for a change lol) and some inking.

Forgot to mention details of the card below and I have had requests for the font - it is super yummy :) It is the King & Queen font, I got it from Dafont, link is here.

All the papers were again K&Co, Prima Ribbon and Hand Stitching and Inking.

There are some other Monogrammatic Cards on the blog for inspiration, you really should go see :D

CPS

Saw this new blog mentioned recently; Card Positioning Systems. It is a really fab blog with card sketches. Didn't see the first in time but here is my attempt for the second. There are some beautiful inspirational cards on the site :)

and this was the sketch;

I used the three lines on right to incorporate the writing on the card :)

Boys will be boys

A very wet half term over and Josh is safely back to school, we didn't get a lot done last week cos the weather was so pants but did go over to visit Nan and Grandad, Auntie Ros and Uncle Pete were there too so it was good to catch up. The boys had their usual fun and played with everything that they probably shouldn't including as usual, booting Nan from her chair so they could take turns in going up and down in it....

Josh also went to a party yesterday and wanted to make a Birthday card himself here it is :)

It fits in pretty well with the current little extra over on the Dare blog :)

and.... after being very reliably informed by the fantabulous Em, we now have a Papermill in Swindon... woohoo! Managed a quick trip there Saturday, they had some really fab card with a faux Bazzill texture, was quite restrained and only bought one box, safe in the knowledge that should I need anymore, it is within walking distance of my house *big grins*

2020 Vision

This week sees the turn of the wonderful Kathy to dare us all, with this little gem :)....
2020 Vision
...now I know that without my glasses I am visually challenged, highlighted to me by Jared this week when he kindly placed my bins in a very safe place only known to himself but luckily, this is a card making dare....

I'd like you to use 20 of one particular thing on a card - be it blooms, papers, brads, ribbons. the choice is yours - you can use other things too, but there must be 20 of one item/ component - not 20 things altogether, that would be much too easy.

For instance, can you use 20 different papers on one card? or 20 Ribbons? Or 20 Blooms - well surely that one sounds easy...

Wow! OK so I went with easy option of 20 flowers but still a challenging dare, but a super fab one at that!

There are 20 Paper and faux chipboard flowers! Paper is from Paperchase - the middle flowery one is actually the back of playing cards also from Paperchase! Brads are mostly from Rachies's shop, eyelets and clip are from Carolyns. Ribbon and letter stickers from stash!

As usual there are more amazing cards on the Dare blog. Can't wait to see what you come up with :)

I wittered on early in the week about some cards that i was going to upload and have finally managed it, so here they are... all thank you cards. seem to need a lot of these at the mo! Not entirely happy with them....

All made with the same paper as the dare card :)

I also recieved a copy of Simply Cards and Papercraft this week. It has the details of the Cardmaker of Year Competition - I did not win, but fantastically was a runner up :) So.... thank you everyone who took the time to vote for my cards! :)

Oh Boy!

This week's little extra is male themed (eeeek!) They are definitely (IMO) the worst cards to make, not sure why but I think that cards for the laydees can always be made with the addition of flowers if all else fails lol.

So here is my attempt;

Paper and brad and ribbon is SEI, Sizzix Stars, tag with pocket is I think from QVC (the only thing that I have actually ever bought from them!) Rub ons and Peel off , eyelets and inking....

Better late than never....

Gosh! I am not sure where the days are going at the mo! Half term is upon us already and things are hectic as ever!! Jared is mostly keeping me occupied more then ever - his persona of choice today was 'Chocolate Man' (his title, not mine) where by he stuck his hands in the Nutella whilst I was helping Josh with reading and smeared it on himself.... Bath time came early in out house today lol.

Huge huge apologies to Jane for my late addition to her fantabulous dare. The increase in Jared's mischievous ways has co-incided with a definite case of crafter's block. If anyone has seen my mojo, please could it be returned ASAP. I have made a few cards which I shall add tomorrow but I am not that happy with any of them :(

Jane's dare is fab; to make a card that has to have more than one fold - so it can be a gate fold card, or a 3 panel card with an aperture or a card with multiple folds OR you can incorporate paper folding on the actual card itself. It can be on any theme. Easy eh ?! Aren't I nice to you all! LOL!

I have not really made many cards with folds, but this was a fun dare to do. My card is actually for my parents to send to their best friend's Son and Wife who had their first baby last week (still with me? lol!) and here it is;

Please excuse the finger in the picture :) Supplies used were; Pebbles Inc paper, Sizzix and Sizzix Sizzlet dies, Foot charm and ribbon from Carolyn's shop and some sparkly fibre from Waitrose. Greeting is printed using a computer using Cafe Rojo and SF Happiness fonts.

The other girls have made some amazing cards- they are here They are all so talented - and this weeks card are fantabulous :)

I also made this card for last weeks little extra- Back In Time;

and have just managed to add it before this weeks is launched tomorrow....

Extra, Extra!

Gillian's turn to dare this week....

'It's around us no matter which way we turn, and all designed to get our attention. Ads designed by graphic designers who know all the tricks & techniques to draw our eyes to the product in question. You only have to glance at a Newspaper quickly to read headings with 'Shock' titles & 'Clever' puns all designed to make you want to read what the article is all about!
Maybe you have been inspired by an Ad in a magazine, the colours or design that has been used. Or incorporate actual magazines & newspapers onto your card; maybe chop up letters (ransom note style) to create the sentiment
So grab that latest edition of your favourite Mag, or pick up your newspaper, because there is so much inspiration there, Just waiting for you to discover!'

Flicking through a magazine - I think that it was Simple Scrapbooks, I found this advertisement;

and made this using the advert as the paper for the card;

I used the ad to cover fun foam for the flowers, the greeting is printed - I used text boxes to make it in Word. Ribbon is from Little Silver Hat and Brads from Rachie's shop. I hand stitched the Birthday message and inked the edges to finish.

There are, as always, amazing cards to inspire on the Daring Card Makers Blog. Check them out and have a go!!

Let it Snow!

Wow! So much snow!! After a week last week of poorliness, josh was not feeling his best again today so we spent the morning making a snowman....

Apologies to all those who have visited my blog - it has been a little hectic looking after 2 poorly little ones and an equally poorly bigger one.

and a v rare one.... Josh was insistent that he took a picture too :)

I did not have time for the little extra this week but remembered this morning this card...

I made it as a 'quick and easy' card for Papercraft Inspirations January edition - A card for a Winter's Birthday which fits pretty well with the little extra this week.

There are some fab examples on the Dare blog and don't forget that another fantabulous dare is launched tomorrow....

A Very Speshal Dare!

We promised something special for this week's Dare and here it is:
This week we joined forces with the wonderful team of Scrapbookers over on the
Everyone is Speshal blog. We're daring each other and you to make a Really Romantic Scrapbook Layout - but on a card!

Scrapbookers are challenged to downsize your usual a 12x12 LO onto a teenyweeny one - maximum of 6x6, which can be sent safely through the mail. Cardmakers - you're used to working on a small space, and you know all about the ribbons, brads and other bits and bobs - but can you take on board all the other little touches that are used on a scrapbook page - the titles, the journalling, the photographs etc?

Is the Valentine's Card you make for your OH usually the last minute, hurried one you make when all your orders are done and you've stocked whatever sales outlets you have, or maybe you're a naughty naughty scrapbooker who actually goes out and - shock horror, BUYS your Loved One's card?

So after taking about 50 pictures of Jase, all of which were rejected by him, he finally allowed me to use one that he had taken of himself.... I have never made a scrapbook layout before so this was a bit of a challenge but all came together in the end :)

Square Card Blank, Printed words, Heart and Background, K-Ology papers, Heidi Swapp Chipboard letters and photo of Jase :)

The other gorgeous creations by the DCM girls are
here and the wonderful creations by the Speshal girls are here.

Right, Are you ready? Go Create! I Dare You!
