A Trio of Welsh Barbers...

Lovely Lythan's dare this week....

As a reward for all the brain power that went into the Little Extra this week, this is a simple one. From simple Lythan
With a cryptic clue.
Which, as I discovered to my embarrassment, when I laid it on the team, is only really possible to understand if you live in the UK. And even better, are Welsh.
So... a trio of Welsh Barbers means that on your card you need to have 3 die cuts!
( Dai is a common Welsh nickname for David and as there are a lot of Dai's around they are known by their jobs so a Welsh barber would be known as Dai Cuts. I'll get my coat.)

Take a Letter Ms Jones...

A really fun little extra this week...

OK, it's not about monograms, we've already done that.

This time the challenge is to pick one letter and see how many things you can use on your card that begin with that letter.

Now then, you can't choose "P" and just have pink paper, pink brads, pink ink, pink ribbon - oh no no no, that's not the way it works!

You could however, use
A pink card blank, paper, petals, plasma, a monogram P, something Purple, a Flower Pot...

Or how about B?
brads, buttons, birthday, banana (well, you never know..) blue, black, brown, blooms, buckles, bows

Or S
spots, stripes, string, sandals, Stickles, sunshine, stars, snow...


now I know that Kathy loves me really but she did comment that I was a leetle bit norty with my choice of items... lol!

I used...
a Dog
Dimpled cardstock although it does not show in the piccie...
a Decorative brad
a Dotty brad
Dotty Paper
Dotty spotty ribbon (do you see where I was going...

Doodled Dashes around the...Digi Doodles for the Delicious cake
Diamond mesh which was attached with Diamond Glaze
Diamontes also stuck with Diamond Glaze
'Dirty' ink effect......... tee hee
and my fav, Dentritic embellies - a rather loose adjective to describe the floral bits haha.

But I did also make a matching Delectable tag too...
Love the little monsters from Paperchase and made this card too - the flowers are also from Paperchase paper...

We had a fab time away at the weekend, I will upload piccies at some point this week... Hope everyone had a good Bank Holiday :)

Who's pushing your buttons?

Keryn's fab Button themed dare this week...

'I know you've all got buttons stashed away somewhere, whether they've been purchased at a cardmaking store or you thriftily snipped them off DH's old shirt. I'd like you to find those buttons and use them somewhere on a card. They can be real buttons, craft shop buttons, die cut buttons, faux buttons or another type of button, surprise us all.'



The v cute monster is cut from some paper that I found in Paperchase this week, grass piccie, printed sentiment and Doodlebug Buttons.

Celebrate...

Monica has a fabby challenge on her blog to make a celebratory card... I made this :)
I used... Pink Petticoat and 7Gypsies papers, dingbats to create the piccie and stars in Photoshop, Queen and Co felt flower, Primas and hand decorated brad.

more digi-ness

The first two cards are made with Kirsty's very very luscious new kit -'tis so very fab. You can find the link to download it on Kirsty's blog. Kirsty is soooo talented and super generous by sharing her most marvellous creations to all.


The first one, I changed the blue to pink - not by any miraculous means but by just using the paint bucket tool in Photoshop as that is where my technical knowledge starts and ends...

The second is the card that I made for Dad for his birthday - it comes complete with a triple embossed star - at last I have found a use for embossing powder that I can manage...

Both have doodles - I scanned some drawings and used Photoshop to colour them :) - If anyone can tell me how to do it (and if anyone would like(!)) I can upload the doodles to share...

and...
Kathy had come up with a wonderful little extra this week - Dot Dot Dot Dash Dash Dash - 'We'd like you to make a card featuring dots and dashes, spots and stripes'. Yummy.

I used Pink Petticoat papers, Doodlebug and hand cut flower, doodled stripes and a doodled cake, again, coloured in PS.

digi doodles...

Been playing with doodles and photoshop... It started with the card that I made for the now newly weds - Congratulations Matt and Rhi! Background paper is Pink Petticoat and Ribbon is from Paperchase and Creative Impressions. The frilly stuff is fab and means that it also fits the current Daring Cardmakers Dare.

It was Dad's Birthday yesterday *waves to Dad* We popped over for posh afternoon tea with homemade yummy scrummy scones (made by Mum, not me lol!) with lashings of Jam and Cream. Lush. I can't show one of the cards that I made yet but here is the one that I made for Nan and Grandad to give to Dad...The card is straight in real life! I used a 2peas Tia Bennett freebie kit - Dude Totally for the paper, VTKS Beauty and Olympique fonts, a Jason Gaylor Brush and a chipboard circle and Dovecraft Big Brad. The star on the bottom left is triple embossed but I am not convinced that it shows in the piccie...

Have been playing with the most amazing paper that Kirsty Wiseman has designed, you can see a sneaky peek on her blog... tis very yummy :)

Frilly Bits...

This week's dare is set by me yay!

So... here is my dare...

You must make a card with a frill - it could be some lace, frilly ribbon, a hand cut or decorative scissor edge or a folded paper frill - or what ever you choose to make.... you decide!



I made this little number with a doodlebug paper frill - folded and attached using DST. I also used Paperchase and Pink Petticoat papers, doodling and brads.

All the other amazing cards made by the DCM team are here.... can't wait to see which frilly bits you decide to use on your cards!

Little Extra - template....

I entered the Greetings agogo Design Team call but as they have announced the new DT members, I guess that I did not get in... Huge congratulations to the really talented new members :) I did however have some really fantastic crafty news last week - not sure if I can share yet but watch this space!!

Kathy gave us a template for the little extra this week...and it was certainly a challenge!! I came up with this which I am not overly impressed with but it matches the template nicely :)...

I used freebie papers from Papercraft Essentials Mag, notecards that I 'borrowed' from Mum, Creative Impressions Ribbon and Photo Hanger, Papermania Eyelets and Photo Turn, Bazzill Brads, Prima Flowers and Printed the text in a circle using Beyond Wonderland font and Word....

How To Print Text in a Circle

(clicking the piccies makes them bigger :))

Open Word and click the insert Word Art symbol


Click on the option that looks like and arch - on my Word it is the third on at the top and type the text you require


Click okay and the text will appear in the document. Click the Word Art shape symbol on the Word Art toolbar and choose the circle shape.


Text will appear squashed up - you can resize the shape by clicking format >> word art and then changing the size of the circle. By making the height and width identical, you will obtain a circle :)

Legoland...
